In this still life, titled Hourglass I explore the passage of time and ideals of beauty. At the center sits an hourglass, its form shaped like a woman’s body in the corset, blurring the line between the measurement of time and the perception of femininity. Surrounding it are fruits: banana, apple, and pear. Each subtly echoing different body shapes and societal ideals. A measuring tape draped across the pear reinforces themes of judgment, comparison, and the search for perfection. Hourglass reflects the fleeting nature of time and beauty. An hourglass shaped like a body, fruits echoing forms, and a measuring tape reminding us how society measures what nature simply creates.

Broken by design, whole by essence.
