The Rose

  • Medium: Oil on canvas
  • Dimensions: 36 x 48 in
  • Artist: Irina Anikouchine

In this piece I invite the viewer to spend some time slowly finding three women’s figures flowing one into another, unfolding like the petals of a rose opening to the light. The rose does not bloom at once, it reveals its countless layers slowly, petal after petal, so does the woman, reviling her hidden depths. She is tender yet resilient, sensual yet sacred, vulnerable yet strong. Each curve is a secret, each line is a whisper of strength and softness revealing what is hidden within. The figures merge and dissolve into each other, suggesting that femininity is never singular but always layered, mysterious, complex and evolving. The Rose becomes both a symbol of beauty and the limitless depths of the woman’s soul.

Broken by design, whole by essence.
