Butterfly – the delicate wings of transformation, embodying freedom and the fragile beauty of growth.

Tribute to Imagination

This three-part series was born from the unfiltered creativity of my oldest daughter Amelie when she was only 1.5 years old. In her spontaneous brushstrokes—marks made without intention—I recognized the seeds of powerful forms: a knight, a butterfly, and a rooster. From those gestures, I built a dialogue between her innocence and my artistic vision, weaving together two generations of imagination.

This painting began with the unfiltered imagination of my daughter, who at just a year and a half old left behind spontaneous brushstrokes on a canvas. In her playful gestures, I saw wings, fragile yet full of movement, and from that seed the image of a butterfly emerged. Built upon her innocent marks, the work became a collaboration across generations. Her pure subconscious vision joined with my own hand and interpretation. The sweeping black and gray arcs create the sense of wings in flight, while the darker core at the center holds the stillness from which transformation begins. The butterfly here is more than a creature. It is a symbol of change, freedom, and the boundless creativity that resides within us all, no matter our age. In honoring my daughter’s early expression, the painting becomes a tribute to imagination itself: delicate, fleeting, yet endlessly powerful.

Broken by design, whole by essence.
